The National Defense Center for Criminalized Survivors, formerly known as the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, addresses the unique needs of victims of gender-based violence who have been criminalized as a result of their experiences of being abused.
They provide specialized technical assistance, resources, and support for victims and their defense teams. Equally important, we train and build alliances among national, state-wide, and local organizations to improve justice for survivors everywhere.

The Incarcerated Gender Violence Survivors Initiative works with pro bono attorneys to provide direct representation to incarcerated survivors of gender-based violence. IGVSI assists survivors with complex legal matters, including:
- Sentencing or resentencing under New York’s Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act (DVSJA)
- Criminal defense representation and appeals
- Parole preparation

The Survivors Justice Project is a program of Women & Justice Project, whose work advances the leadership and power of women who are currently and formerly incarcerated to transform the criminal legal system.
